Pep Guardiola answers question on Harry Kane at Man City press conference ahead of Spurs trip

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was once again quizzed about the interest in Harry Kane ahead of Sunday’s Premier League curtain-raiser against Tottenham Hotspur.

Guardiola confirmed his interest in the 28-year-old last weekend, having revealed that the Premier League champions would be keen to hold negotiations with Tottenham if they were open to the idea (BBC).

The 50-year-old was a lot coyer about the England international ahead of their visit to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium by insisting that his previous comments on Kane were a rare occurrence and refused to comment any further.

Kane returned to training with the Tottenham squad earlier today after completing his negative five-day PCR test following a period of self-isolation (Daily Mail).

Reports claim that Man City held fresh talks with Spurs earlier this week and things are likely to escalate after the match has taken place.

He told the Manchester Evening News: I answered this question the previous press conference. He’s a player from Tottenham, I’m not going to talk about. I made an exception last time, usually I don’t talk about transfers.”

Pep should have been respectful last weekend and refused to comment on the situation, rather than what appears to be an attempt to further unsettle Kane at Tottenham.

The situation is fragile and is overshadowing Nuno’s preparations with the squad, it will be telling if he leaves Kane out of his plans on Sunday.
