Pep Guardiola makes arrogant prediction over Champions League quarter final

Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester City in the Champions League quarter final second leg on Wednesday night at the Etihad.

Spurs won their home leg at the new stadium by a narrow 1-0 margin thanks to a late Heung Min Son strike.

Now, a draw, a win, or even a loss by a favourable margin will see Tottenham progress through to the semi finals of the elite competition.

This would be Spurs’ first ever appearance in the Champions League semis, with their only other quarter final clash coming back in 2011 against Real Madrid.

However, Spurs may be without Dele Alli and Harry Winks, who are both doubts for the match, as well as Harry Kane who is now out for the season after suffering another ankle ligament injury.

Despite Tottenham’s lead heading into the second leg, Pep Guardiola has come out and claimed that he believes his side will be in the semi finals.

He said (Manchester Evening News): “We’ll be sad one day, two days [if we lose the quarter-final], then after we play for the Premier League and the chance to be champion. We play the final of the FA Cup, and next season we’ll be there again; that is for sure.

“If you ask me what is going to happen, we’ll be in the semi-finals; that is what I feel right now.

“It’s what I felt right after the game and when I reviewed the game. Maybe I’m wrong but what I feel now, we’ll be in the semi-finals.”
