Pep Guardiola has admitted that Erling Haaland is now close to a return but thankfully from a Tottenham perspective, the Man City boss revealed that the striker is not expected to feature in tomorrow’s FA Cup clash.

Spurs return to action after their winter break on Friday in what will be a packed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The clash is highly anticipated for a number of reasons, not least because it is the Premier League champions coming to town and since the FA Cup represents Tottenham’s best chance of winning silverware this season.

The game could also be the first glimpse that the home fans catch of the two new signings, Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin, although it remains to be seen if either of them will start.

Haaland is not expected to play against Tottenham

A couple of days ago, The Times revealed that Haaland has resumed training with his City teammates this week but the outlet suggested that the clash against Spurs might come too soon for the centre-forward.

That has now been confirmed by Guardiola, who said when asked about the Norwegian star (via Sam Lee): “Tomorrow he is still not ready but he is close.”

Both teams will be missing some key players but there is no doubt that both managers will stick to their guns and demand that their side take the game to the opposition. It is going to be quite an entertaining encounter to watch, with goals likely to be flying in at either end.
