Pep Guardiola says Spurs will become ‘unbelievable’ if they stick with Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou may have seen his Tottenham Hotspur side lose to Manchester City on Tuesday night, but his counterpart, Pep Guardiola, reserved special praise for the Australian in the aftermath of that game.

It has been a year of transition for Tottenham and their new manager this term, but one that has ultimately been fairly successful.

The Lilywhites are currently on course to finish fifth in the Premier League with one game to go, and Postecoglou has got his team playing a more attacking, more entertaining style of football, too.

Tottenham’s form of late has been poor, with just one win in six games. The latest defeat came at the hands of Manchester City on Tuesday night, in a game that many Spurs fans actually wanted to lose due to the implications of Arsenal’s title challenge.

Postecoglou now has a big summer ahead, where he must revamp his squad once more, with multiple departures expected, too.

Spurs need to keep faith in Postecoglou

Looking ahead to the future, Pep Guardiola has promised Tottenham they have got a winner on their hands with Postecoglou, if they just keep the faith.

Speaking to the press (via Standard) after the game, Guardiola said: “They play with a lot of pride and intensity and it’s so difficult to play against them. Spurs will, in the future, be unbelievable if they stick with the manager.”

Guardiola and Postecoglou have a good relationship ever since the latter coached in Japan with Yokohama, a club involved in the City Group network.

Spurs Web Opinion

If we as a club and as a fan base cannot be patient with Postecoglou, then I really don’t know where we go from there. He’s got the right mentality, the right playing style, and a record of success in his career that suggests he will bring success to Spurs, too. We have to stick with this rebuild and it will work.
