‘Perfect back up’ – Some Spurs fans divided over reported interest in 27-year-old

Some Spurs fans on social media have been left divided regarding Tottenham’s rumoured interest in Genk striker Paul Onuachu.

Onuachu enjoyed a prolific season last time out as he finished the 2020/21 campaign with 35 goals in 41 appearances for the Belgium side.

The Nigerian has international has begun this campaign from where he left off, having netted 9 goals in 10 league appearances so far this term.

The Daily Mail have revealed that the 6ft 7ins centre-forward is on the radars of Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Southampton and West Ham.

Tottenham are thought to be the latest club to have entered the race for the striker ahead of January, with the North London club identifying him as a potential backup to Harry Kane.

The report claims that Genk are open to selling the striker for a £20m, with the former Midtjylland man thought to be keen on making a step up.

While some Tottenham fans felt that Onuachu would be a perfect backup for Kane, others suggested that the 27-year-old is not of the required level for Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

We are not going to be able to attract a top-quality striker to the club to play second fiddle to Kane. I believe Onuachu could be a useful backup to have, especially given his imposing physical presence, which would offer us an option of going direct if need be.
