‘Perfect step’ – Fabrizio Romano believes Dusan Vlahovic should join Tottenham

Fabrizio Romano has admitted he would like to see Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic join Tottenham as he believes it would be the ‘perfect step’ in his career.

Vlahovic, 21, has emerged as one of the top options on the market this month after rejecting a new contract offer from La Viola, with his current deal due to expire in 18 months.

Fiorentina tabled multiple contract offers to the Serbia international including one that would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history, but their efforts have seemingly come to no avail.

Vlahovic has since received plenty of interest from the Premier League with the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal all said to be monitoring the situation, while Serie A giants Juventus also keeping tabs.

It has been claimed that Arsenal have been planning on making an opening bid worth around £50 million in the coming days, with Mikel Arteta keen to strengthen the attacking options at his disposal.

Transfer guru Romano confirmed the Gunners’ interest as well at that from Tottenham this month, but then saw the spotlight turned on him.

When quizzed on who he would sign for if he was in Vlahovic’s position, he admitted he would join Spurs to link up with Antonio Conte and play in a system alongside Harry Kane.

Speaking to CBS Sports, Romano said: “I would go to Tottenham, to be honest.

“Antonio Conte is the perfect manager to play with two strikers. Harry Kane together with him.

“The Premier League is the right step. Tottenham, of course, is a top club but not ready to win the Champions League for example.

“I think it is the perfect step for him.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs have had a long-standing interest in Vlahovic since the summer and that is continuing throughout this month, and likely through to the summer if he doesn’t move in the next couple of weeks.

It would be a big transfer to pull off, but these are the types of players that would take Spurs back to the level they once were as they are statement signings.
