Peter Crouch was given the unenviable task of picking one current Tottenham player for the Spurs side he played in under Harry Redknapp.
Crouch was part of the first Tottenham side that qualified for the Champions League, with the Lilywhites piping the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool to a fourth-place finish in the 2009-10 season.
The striker’s partnership with Jermain Defoe was a key feature of that side under Redknapp, with the attack further strengthened with the arrival of Rafael Van der Vaart in the summer of 2010.
Crouch combined impressively with the Dutchman as Spurs went all the way to the quarterfinals in their debut Champions League campaign before being knocked out by Real Madrid after the lanky centre-forward got sent off at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Maddison crossing to Peter Crouch would have been glorious
The 42-year-old was asked to pick one player from the current Tottenham side to strengthen the team he played in, and the striker did not hesitate to pick James Maddison, while also giving an honourable mention to Son Hueng-min.
Crouch told The Daily Mail: “James Maddison is the one that sticks out,’ he said. I just love the way he plays and he looks like he enjoys himself. His delivery is first class and he’s someone I would’ve loved to have played with. Son as well (I’d have liked to play with).
“But my team wasn’t too shabby. We had Gareth Bale one side, Luka Modric in the middle and Aaron Lennon on the right, with Rafael Van der Vaart behind me. It was a decent side as well so I have no complaints.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Scott Parker only joined Spurs in the summer of 2011 when Crouch left. The Spurs side that the striker played in lacked a top-quality number six, with Sando also being quite young at the time.
That is why Bentancur would be my pick for that Redknapp side. It would have been delightful to watch the Uruguayan play alongside Luka Modric in the middle of the park.
