Peter Crouch names the three Spurs teammates that were ‘amazing’ to watch in training

Peter Crouch has been discussing the players he got to see in action during his Tottenham Hotspur career, and has reminisced about the ‘privilege’ of watching the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, and Rafael van der Vaart in training.

During Harry Redknapp‘s tenure as Spurs boss, the Lilywhites had some incredible players among their ranks, from world-class talents to cult icons.

At that time, Spurs really began their ascent to the top table in the Premier League, qualifying for the Champions League and becoming a force to be reckoned with.

It was a golden era, and Peter Crouch was a key part of that. He scored 24 goals and registered 21 assists in 93 games for the North London club (Transfermarkt).

Crouch loved watching Bale, Modric, and van der Vaart

In the latest episode of Peter Crouch’s podcast, the former striker was reflecting on the kind of players he was surrounded by, and highlighted three players in particular as being ‘amazing’ to watch.

He said: “I remember standing on the sidelines with Harry [Redknapp] once because I was injured and he was looking at training and going ‘this is a privilege.’ We had Bale, Modric, Van der Vaart. It was just like amazing to watch.”

Crouch then recalled how another of his teammates, Robbie Keane, was eager for more tactical work in the sessions. “I always remember Keano saying we need to do more tactics, we need to do more shape and patterns of play. This was in a meeting.

“And Harry was like ‘hold on, you want me to tell Luka Modric how to pass it? You want to tell Van de Vaart where to stand? You want me to tell Defoe how to score goals? Go and enjoy it.'”

Spurs Web Opinion

We’ve had great players before this period, and indeed after it, but I really think the Redknapp era is my favourite time as a Spurs fan. From Redknapp’s big personality, to the brilliant mix of players we had, and the way we started to challenge at the top of the league, it was such an exciting time.
