Peter Crouch has offered his view on Tottenham Hotspur’s difficult situation, even joking that he would return to help the club while also naming the man he believes could steady things.

Many former Tottenham Hotspur players have been left distraught by what is happening at the club this season.

Tottenham are a side that has avoided relegation for almost half a century, but it is now at risk of losing its Premier League status as the team continues to struggle for form.

Several ex-players have voiced concerns and have even volunteered to step in and help correct what has become a difficult situation at the club.

Tottenham crisis discussed as Peter Crouch backs Harry Redknapp

Tim Sherwood has put his name forward as someone willing to take the role of interim boss for Spurs, while Glenn Hoddle has also expressed a desire to take charge of Tottenham during this period of crisis.

Harry Redknapp has not hidden away either and has stated that he is ready to become manager of Tottenham once more.

Peter Crouch has now become the latest former player to comment on the situation at the north London club.

Speaking to ITV Sport about Tottenham’s struggles, Crouch admitted the situation looks serious and pointed to the atmosphere he witnessed during their recent defeat to Crystal Palace.

He said, “Yeah, it’s in a lot of trouble now. I was at the Palace game and it was really bad, it was almost like the fans had given up and the management. If you speak to Harry [Redknapp] then maybe you will get the whole ‘get the band back together’.”

When asked whether he would personally return to help Spurs, Crouch joked that he would welcome the chance while backing Redknapp to do a good job.

He added to ITV Sport: “Would I? Oh my god, I would jump at the chance but listen, Harry would do a good job. I am sure he would.”

Spurs search for answers as struggles continue under Igor Tudor

Spurs have certainly tried to go down the route of appointing a relegation specialist in Igor Tudor, given his record, but that decision has not produced positive results so far.

Since the Croat took charge, Tottenham’s struggles have continued, with the club suffering four defeats in the four games he has managed.

Tudor also arrived with a tough-guy managerial approach, one that has still not brought the best out of several of these Spurs players.

Perhaps it is time for a different approach in north London. Perhaps it is time for those who know the club inside out to come together and save it from what has become a dire situation.
