‘Phenomenal’ – Jose Mourinho reacts to that Spurs 6-1 thrashing of Man United

Jose Mourinho cut a very satisfied figure in his latest post-match press conference after he witnessed Tottenham’s 6-1 thrashing of Man United at Old Trafford this evening.

The Special One masterminded the drubbing against his former side using similar tactics to the ones seen in the high-scoring game against Southampton.

Heung-min Son stayed on the shoulder to run in behind while Harry Kane dropped deep to collect and create before getting forward to finish.

Despite going 1-0 down after Sanchez gave United a penalty in the opening minute, Kane and Son both helped themselves to a brace each across the 90 minutes.

Tanguy Ndombele and Serge Aurier also got on the scoresheet for the visitors as they embarrassed the Red Devils in their own back yard.

After the game, Mourinho claimed that his team were phenomenal and deserved the victory, while insisting that only his squad could beat Chelsea, Maccabi Haifa, and Man United in the same week.

He said (Charlie Eccleshare): “The first half was phenomenal. We were so, so, so good at every level. We deserved so so much the victory. I’m very happy with the squad that I have, and only that squad could win three matches in five days. Only this squad. “Especially in the attacking areas, the options are incredible.”
