Toby Alderweireld’s future at Tottenham Hotspur continues to be the subject of speculation in the media.
The Belgian’s £25 million transfer release clause which runs until July 25th has seen him heavily linked with a move to Roma, with Franco Baldini said to have travelled to London this meet with Spurs officials week to discuss bringing the defender to Serie A (Calcio Mercato).
Alderweireld did not feature prominently in any of the photographs of yesterday’s pre-season training session at Hotspur Way, which led to one eagle-eyed Spurs fan spotting the 30-year-old in the background of some video footage.
The former Ajax man has been a rock at the heart of the Spurs defence since his move from Atletico Madrid and his departure would be a huge blow ahead considering that the North London club are looking to try and compete for trophies and close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool.
