Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has been spotted arriving in Portuguese hospital where he reportedly underwent his medical ahead of completing a move to Benfica.
Belgian news outlet HLN reported earlier today that the 33-year-old looks set to complete a move to the Liga Nos giants and will put pen to paper on a three-year deal.
SIC Noticas claim that the central defender undertook his medical at the Hospital da Luz, which is based just outside of Lisbon.
Vertonghen departed Tottenham last month following eight years at the club after his contract expired and will make the move to Benfica as a free agent.
Benfica finished second in the Portuguese top flight last season and will enter the Champions League at the third qualifying round stage.
The Belgium international made over 300 appearances during his time at Tottenham (transfermarkt).
