Gian Piero Ventrone’s son, Ivan, visited Antonio Conte at Tottenham’s training ground this week, with the pair paying their respects to the deceased Spurs fitness coach at the tree that was planted in his memory at Hotspur Way.

Ventrone’s sudden passing came at the start of October came as a huge shock to everyone associated with Spurs. The Italian was a loved figure at the club and had developed a close bond with the players in the 11 months that he had worked with them.

The likes of Rodrigo Bentancur (Sky Sports), Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Football.London) and Son Heung-min (Football.London) spoke in glowing terms about the impact the 62-year-old had on the squad’s fitness as well as the dressing room morale.

Eric Dier sent a signed England shirt to Ventrone’s family along with a touching message about how the former Spurs fitness coach helped him get back into the Three Lions set-up.

It was Ivan Ventrone who posted a picture of the shirt on Instagram stroies along with a caption: “I’ll be forever your supporter. Exactly as my dad did @ericdier15”.

Ivan has now visited Conte at Hotspur Way and the Spurs head coach took to social media to remark that his relationship with the Ventrone family with continue to grow.

Here’s what the 53-year-old posted on Instagram:

Spurs Web Opinion

When discussing Spurs’ downturn in form during October, I do not think many pundits and fans appreciated the emotional impact that Ventrone’s passing would have had on the players and the staff, given that the 62-year-old seemed to be universally loved by everyone at the club.

That was arguably one of the reasons why Conte and the players needed a mid-season break to reflect on the sudden tragedy and recharge their batteries after a difficult couple of months.
