Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies was spotted on the Hotspur Way training pitch earlier today as he looks to step up his recovery from injury.

The Welsh international suffered an ankle injury after he fell awkwardly late on in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against Sevilla last Saturday and returned back to the UK on Sunday wearing a protective boot (Evening Standard).

Up until yesterday, the centre half had not stepped foot on the training pitch but earlier today was seen outdoors with fitness coach Stefano Bruno (Getty).

Spurs boss Antonio Conte has already ruled the 29-year-old out of tomorrow’s pre-season friendly against Rangers in Glasgow and is hoping that he will recover in time to be considered for selection when Southampton are the visitors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on August 6th for the first Premier League match of the new campaign.

Davies’ absence will give Clement Lenglet the chance to get plenty of minutes in what will be his first appearance for Spurs since joining from Barcelona.

Lenglet was not able to make the trip to South Korea due to his late arrival at Tottenham meant he could not get a visa in time and will now have the opportunity to prove to some of the supporters who are underwhelmed at his arrival that he can be counted on this season.
