Photo: Player who left Spurs in 2011 returns to N17 to visit the new stadium

Wilson Palacios has posted an image on his official Instagram feed of him holding a Tottenham shirt outside the club’s new stadium.

Palacios, 37, spent two-and-a-half years at Spurs between 2009 and 2011 after initially joining the club from Wigan.

He provided Spurs that bit of bite in midfield which the team desperately needed, which was enough to earn the plaudits of then manager Harry Redknapp, who described him as a ‘powerhouse’ in midfield.

The Honduran amassed 86 appearances for Spurs before eventually departing for Stoke City in a double deal with striker Peter Crouch.

Further stints at Real Sociedad and CD Olimpia back in his home country followed, before Palacios decided to hang his boots up for good last year.

Now with a bit more free time on his hands, Palacios has since been spotted returning to N17 after he posted an image of him posing outside the club’s new stadium holding a Spurs shirt with his name on.

Spurs Web Opinion

Palacios played a key role for Spurs during the club’s run to secure Champions League football and he was very much understated due to the likes of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric. He wasn’t flashy or a stand-out player, but he was there to be annoying to opponents in midfield.
