Tottenham Hotspur were given a lifeline at 1-0 yesterday in the Premier League when they took on Sheffield United at home.

Spurs were defending for their clean sheet when the Blades managed to make their pressure pay just a minute after Heung-min Son had scored, only for VAR to pull it back and rule the equaliser out.

It was judged that Lundstram’s toe had been marginally offside in the build-up with Eric Dier the closest Tottenham defender in terms of playing him on.

Sheffield United tweeted an image of the offside call, in which it appears that Dier’s shoulder plays him onside, with the club added a straight-faced emoji.

There was a lengthy delay as the video replay officials scrutinised the evidence, zooming in and drawing a multitude of lines on the screen, before informing the referee it was no goal, to the delight of the home fans.
