Photo: Spurs star admits that it’s difficult to return following the off-season

Tottenham Hotspur players are starting to pack their suitcases and return from all over the world ahead of a return to club football.

Erik Lamela took to social media to post on Instagram to reveal that he was about to board a plane back to London ahead of a return to Hotspur Way for pre-season training.

Lamela had spent some of the off season back in his native Argentina spending time with loved ones after being overlooked for his nation’s involvement in the Copa America tournament.

The winger posted a caption in Spanish that translated to: “How difficult it is to separate from family and friends but as every year I am always determined in search of new goals and new challenges even if it is hard to leave everything … we go there once more.”

One thing which stands out from Lamela’s caption is the mention of ‘new challenges’. If Christian Eriksen somehow remains at the club and they are also able to recruit Giovani Lo Celso it is difficult to imagine how the 27-year-old will play regular first team football in North London next season.

Lamela has struggled with countless injury problems over the past few years which have limited his ability to be considered a first team regular and often frustrates supporters with his inability to take a game by the scruff of the neck and influence it with the trickery that he possesses.

He certainly has a big season ahead of him at Spurs to finally prove his worth if he is to remain in North London.
