After it was confirmed that Dele Alli would be missing the North London derby with a hamstring problem, Tottenham Hotspur may have received another potential injury blow to one of their first-team stars.

In the pictures from the team’s training session on Friday, Serge Aurier was seen wearing some strapping on his left arm.

This was not a positive sign for Spurs since the right-back had to be replaced by Gedson Fernandes in the latter stages of the 0-0 draw against Bournemouth after injuring his arm (Alasdair Gold).

The injury to Aurier is particularly worrying since the Ivory Coast international is the only natural right-back option that Tottenham currently have in their squad.

Jose Mourinho has admitted that Spurs lack a natural replacement for Aurier with both Juan Foyth and Japhet Tanganga currently on the mend from injuries (Football.London).

If Aurier does miss the clash against Arsenal on Sunday, the Spurs boss may have to come up with a creative solution to the problem.

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite being an extremely frustrating player, we simply cannot afford to lose Aurier to an injury at the moment as he is the only option in our squad who possesses the attributes to play the advanced right wing-back role in our current system. Given that Jose has not mentioned anything about his injury in the press conference, it does not look like the 27-year-old’s issue is serious. Hopefully, it does not keep him out of the North London derby.
