Photo: What Gareth Bale did to make Ledley King laugh at full-time against Marine

Gareth Bale recovered from his calf problem and returned to action in Tottenham’s 5-0 win over Marine yesterday.

Tottenham already had the game under control when Bale replaced Dele Alli in the 65th minute but the Welshman did look lively in his cameo, even though he did not manage to get on the scoresheet.

The 31-year-old certainly seemed to be enjoying the occasion and was seen having fun at Dele Alli’s expense even before he came on.

Bale showed the Tottenham midfielder an imaginary card when he inadvertently slipped and fell over.

The Welshman was also all smiles after the final whistle when he decided to hand Ledley King the captain’s armband.

King was the Tottenham captain during Bale’s first spell at the North London club, with injuries eventually forcing the central defender into an early retirement in 2012.

Now part of Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff, the 40-year-old certainly seemed to enjoy Bale’s gesture.

Even though Bale has not quite hit the expected heights on the pitch as of yet, it is clear that the players are enjoying his company. The Welshman looks like he has been an extremely positive influence on the dressing room.
