Pick your Spurs team vs Swansea City

37

It’s back to Premier League action on Saturday as Spurs travel to the principality to take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

It’s important we get back to winning ways after suffering three defeats in a row at the hands of Liverpool, Inter Milan and Fulham. A defeat at the Liberty could prove costly in our race for Champions League football.

If you were AVB. What would your Spurs starting XI be?

Here’s what we have come up with:-

Lloris

Walker Vertonghen Dawson Assou-Ekotto

Lennon Dembele Parker Bale

Holtby

Defoe

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. is there any other way? i mean he could put siggy on the left and bale in behind defoe. would rather it was how youve got it panned out though. we will see.

  2. ……….lloris………..

    Walker…..Dawson……vert….benny

    ……………..dembele holtby……..

    Lennon…..Bale…..Siggy……

    …. Defoe ….

  3. Assuming Lennon is injured:

    Lloris
    Walker Dawson Vertonghen BAE
    Parker Dembele
    Bale Holtby Sigurdsson
    Adebayor/Defoe

If Lennon is fit, drop Holtby and move Bale onto the left.

      • No point in playing Bale on left with no Lennon. Bale gets doubled up more, finds it harder to cross, and then no one is there on end of cross anyway. At least on right, he can use threat of cutting inside and shooting on strong foot – so whilst doubled up, he still has a trick or two. So I agree with Josh there. Plus Siggy has been ok on left, and similarly can shoot on his right foot (fat chance of him scoring, but the threat is there)

  4. Lloris
    Walker, Daws, Vert, BAE
    Lennon, Parker, Dembele, Bale
    Siggy
    Defoe

    Formation: 4-4-1-1

Subs: Friedel, Caulker,Naughton, Carroll, Holtby, Dempsey & Ade

Siggy's placement is questionable. But, the reason I am playing him because he played for Swansea and he knows most of them and he might be able to exploit their weakness. If he is ineffective I would bring on Holtby and Carroll in for Parker and Siggy around 65th min for effective passing.

  5. lloris
    walker dawson calker vertonghen
    lennon parker dembele bale
    dempsey
    defoe

friedel gallas naughton holtby siggy carroll ade

  6. I would go for Lloris in goal and give Walker a competition by selecting Naughton at RB.Obviously i would select Coulthirst on to the bench and leave Ade and Defoe out of my squad as they’ve proved nothing this season. I will give Holtby a starting place and send Siggi onto the bench as a super-sub…
    Lloris

    Walker Dawson Vertonghen BAE

    Lennon Parker Dembélé Holtby

    Bale
    Dempsey
    Subs:Friedel,Walker,Caulker,Siggurdsson,Carroll,Livermore,Coulthirst.

  7. lloris
    walker vertongon dawson ekkoto
    lennon dembele parker bale
    sigirudson
    defoe

best team that avb could put on the field

  8. Lloris
    Walker, Caulker, Dawson, Vertonghen
    Dembele, Holtby
    Lennon, Siggy, Bale
    Dempsey.

Subs: Friedel, Naughton, Livermore, Carroll, Defoe, Coulthirst, Huddlestone

Don't want BAE on the pitch, sick to death of seeing Parker sprint towards his own area to receive the ball from Lloris then proceed to do 5 circles and pass it back, and as for the 2 prolific strikers least said the better

  9. I really don’t think we need Parker! Slows down play too much I would put a duo holtby and dembele in the holding two

  10. Id personally play the 4-2-3-1 formation with:

    Lloris

    Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, BAE

    Dembele, Carroll

    Lennon, Holtby, Bale

    Defoe

    • I agree with your selection of players. I would try Holtby sitting deeper than Carroll because he may be better defensively.

      Lloris

      Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, BAE

      Dembele, Holtby

      Lennon, Carroll, Bale

      Defoe

  11. Lloris, Naughton, Vert, Daws, BAE.

    Dembelle, Holtby.

    Lennon, Bale, Siggy.

    Dempsey

If no Lennon then play Siggy RW and Dempsey LW with Ade through the middle.

  12. Lloris

    Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, BAE

    Parker, Dembele

    Bale, Sigurdsson/Dempsey, Lennon

    Defoe

Bale damages the team's flow when he plays in the center. When he plays there it benefits him alone, as he doesn't create for anyone else.Playing him on the right will open up the goal for him to shoot at all day everyday.

  13. Holtby belongs in central mid. He even said that himself. play Holtby and parker in the middle and push demebele up behind the striker. Its so obvious. come on AVB give the lad a chance

    • Dembele doesn't score many goals so it would be better to play Pritchard in that position or bring in Cristian Eriksen. Dembele is a good squad player but not good enough for the first team.

  14. Spurs team next season:

    Lloris

Smith, Dawson, Vertonghen, NEW LEFT BACK

    Carroll, Holtby

    Lennon, Christian Eriksen, Bale

    Coulthirst

Subs: Pritchard, Cebellos, Dembele, Friedel, Defoe, Caulker, Sandro.

  15. I am almost done with the dembele experiment. At this point I'd almost say get rid of him while everyone is talking about how great he is, and about his silky runs, and before they realize that all he really does is dribble himself into avoidable trouble, gives balls away, and does not score. That said, he's better than give-the-ball-away-everytime Parker, who seems to have completely lost the ability to complete a pass at the moment (chasing that ball down doesn't mean a thing if you give it right back, Scott…) And if Holtby wants to play further back, let him, he can't be worse than Parker has been this year.

    Lloris
Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Vertongan (yeah, he'd rather be in the center, but he is a waaaay better LB than BAE, admit it)
    Lennon, Holtby, Dembele, Siggurdson
    Bale
    Defoe

Or switch to A 4-4-2 when we need a goal, drop siggurdson move bale outside, and put Adebayor up front with Defoe.

    So
    Lloris
Walker, Dawson, Caulker, vertongan (yeah, he wants to be in the center, but admit it, he is a waaaay better LB than BAE)
    Lennon, Dembele, Holtby, siggurdson
    Bale
    Defoe
Or a 4-4-2 dropping siggurdson, moving bale outside, and playing defoe up top with adebayor or (if youve totaly given up all hope) Dempsey.

  18. Change the defence to walker daws caulker vertonghen and youve got yourself a winning team!!! :-) want to see bale operate on the left again :-)

  19. Every week you make the same bloody prediction or "request" of Holtby in behind Ade or Jermaine. It hasn't worked, or happened for that matter; with the player himself even speaking about needing time to adapt to the English game.

    Walker Dawson Verton BAE
    Parker
    Lennon Moussa Dempsey
    Bale
    Jermaine
