Pienaar relishing Spurs test

Steven Pienaar has claimed he took a risk in leaving Everton for Tottenham in January – but it is a risk that will pay off.

The South African swapped life as a fan favourite at Goodison Park to compete for a place at Tottenham, and has admitted he always hoped to test himself at the highest level.

With Spurs flying high in the Premier League and in the last 16 of the Champions League, he will get that chance and Pienaar is looking forward to the opportunity.

“I’m looking forward to every game, also the Champions League.

“It’s every player’s wish to compete there at the highest level and have that opportunity at the age of 28, I consider it an honour.

“The move is something new, it’s a new club, a new city. You have to get used to your surroundings.

“Time will tell if I made the right move, for me it’s a challenge, that’s why you play football, for the challenges.

“You have to take risks and that’s the risk I took.”
