Tottenham Hotspur couldn’t quite muster the energy to see out their lead in the North London derby this weekend.
After going behind early to an Arsenal penalty, Tottenham scored two in as many minutes to pull themselves back into the lead.
Spurs had already played against Chelsea and Inter Milan that week winning both high-intensity, high-pressure matches.
However, it appeared that the fatigue caught up with Pochettino’s men in the second half, and the Argentine made his substitutions far too late.
By the time Spurs made their first swap, Arsenal had made three, levelled the score line and retaken the lead.
Famous Arsenal fan Piers Morgan took to talkSPORT to rant about his side’s victory and the state of Tottenham as a club.
He believes this one game somehow proves that Arsenal are still a bigger club, and gives an all-round embarrassing argument about the two sides.
If we ever needed proof that Piers Morgan is a complete plonker, here you go.
He told talkSPORT: “North London is, like it’s always been, red. So suck on that!
“It’s never been white, I don’t know why anyone has even raised the subject of Tottenham ever, ever eclipsing us.
“We’ve had all the chat for years about how they’re eclipsing arsenal, but on yesterday’s performance I don’t see it.
“I see a bunch of very well-paid guys running around who did not have the commitment and hunger than this Arsenal team now has.
“Look at where their season is going, they’re fifth now.
“For Tottenham, the EFL Cup is about the only thing they can possibly win, so I would image they would put their first team out, most of whom went missing yesterday.
“I think the EFL Cup game is actually quite significant, because for Arsenal winning has actually become a mentality.”
