PL boss’ son insists midfielder linked with Spurs is a “manager’s dream”

Former Premier League defender Alex Bruce has raved about Chelsea midfielder Willian and believes he is just the kind of player Jose Mourinho needs at Tottenham.

The Brazilian’s contract with the Blues runs out in the summer and he admitted in a recent interview with Esporte Interativo that there have been no developments regarding a new contract.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo have installed Tottenham as the favourites to secure his signature when his contract at Stamford Bridge run out.

Daniel Levy is said to be prepared to move early to strike a deal for the 31-year-old and will reportedly offer him a pay-rise to convince him to make the switch to North London (Football Insider).

Bruce insisted that the winger is just the sort of unselfish player that Mourinho loves working with and said that he would not be surprised to see him reunited with the Portuguese head coach at Spurs.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Hull City defender said: “He’s been around the Premier League for a number of years, has always been a very, very good player in the Premier League.

“They’re the kind of players Mourinho would want, where you know what you’re going to get out of them. He’s a really, really good team player. He’s got that knack of scoring goals, creating goals and working hard for the team, which is a manager’s dream.

“It wouldn’t surprise me, having worked with Mourinho, if he ends up at Spurs.”

Spurs Web Opinion

This is a transfer I can certainly see going through given that he is available on a free and that Jose is known to be a big fan of him. I don’t think we particularly need Willian as we are pretty well stocked when it comes to wide options but the Brazilian will give us something different especially in games that are stretched.
