PL club confirm manager is leaving at end of season amid rumoured Spurs links

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that rumoured Tottenham target Nuno Espirito Santo will be leaving after the club’s final game of the season on Sunday.

Nuno arrived at Wolves in the summer of 2017 and led the club to the Championship title in his first season in charge.

He subsequently helped the club achieve two back-to-back seventh-place finishes in the Premier League but the West Midlands club have had a disappointing campaign this time out, sitting in 12th place with a game left.

Previous reports have indicated that the Portuguese coach is admired by the Tottenham hierarchy, who are on the lookout for a new manager.

The Athletic claimed towards the end of last month that the 47-year-old was unlikely to quit Wolves in favour of a move to Spurs.

However, Wolves have now confirmed that they have decided to end their relationship with the former Porto goalkeeper by mutual consent.

Multiple sources (including The Atheltic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke and Football.London’s Alasdair Gold) have stated that Tottenham are looking to appoint a manager with a progressive style of play.

While Nuno has demonstrated that he is excellent at getting the best from the resources at his disposal, he is certainly not a coach who likes to take too many risks. So, I would be surprised if Tottenham went in for the 47-year-old.
