PL manager insists reported Tottenham target is ‘very happy’ at the club

Frank Lampard has claimed that rumoured Tottenham target Jordan Pickford is very happy at Everton and insisted that the Toffees could match the goalkeeper’s ambition.

Among the various names who have been mooted as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris at Tottenham, Pickford has appeared most often over recent months.

90 min reported during the summer transfer window Tottenham enquired about the Everton number one while negotiating with the Toffees for Richarlison.

TuttoMercatoWeb were the latest to report on Spurs’ interest in the England goalkeeper, with the publication stating last week that the 28-year-old is Antonio Conte’s first choice to replace Lloris next summer.

However, the North London club are expected to face competition for Pickford, with GiveMeSport reporting earlier this month that the Everton star is also on the wishlist of Manchester United and Chelsea.

However, Lampard has now talked up the chances of the England star staying put at Goodison Park.

When asked if Everton can match Pickford’s ambition, he told talkSPORT: “I feel we can because I don’t think it’s straightforward to look at an individual and see what their ambitions are.

“Jordan is England’s No.1 and has secured that position, which has been an amazing achievement by him. Playing at Everton, he’s been a huge reason why we had a great run at the end of last season. When we stayed in the league, everyone knows Jordan was a massive part of that.

“Jordan feels very happy being at this club. I won’t speak for him but that’s the impression I get from him. So, I don’t think it’s as simple as that because he’s very happy here.”

Pickford’s current contract runs until the summer of 2024, which means that Everton will likely be forced to cash in on him next summer if the goalkeeper decides against signing a new deal.  Pickford’s decision on a contract will likely come down to whether the Toffees show any signs of progress in the second part of this campaign.
