“He’s played a big part for us in the last year or two”

Harry Redknapp has revealed that he brought off Wilson Palacios incase the player got sent off.

Palacios made a rare start in the 1-1 draw against Everton on Saturday, but was replaced at half time by Sandro after he picked up a booking during the first period.

“I took Wilson off at half-time because he had a booking,” Redknapp told the club’s official site.

“I thought the booking was harsh, but he then made another foul and I thought he if he made one more he might just get sent off.

“He tackles, works, gets close to players and to take that out of his game completely, which I would have had to have done if I left him on, would be difficult.

“So I brought Sandro on and I thought he did okay in the second half.

“Wilson’s done great for us since he arrived at the club.

“He brought something to the club that we never really had before, that determination to win the ball back when we lose it and he was a big signing for us.

“He’s played a big part for us in the last year or two.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. He played well, dominated them in midfield on Saturday. Shame he got booked, but it was a vital foul to make after the useless so called right back of ours gave the ball away again!

  2. Whilst agreeing that Palacios is a good player who has contributed much to our club, I do not like him for his tendency to foul frequently and thus give away set pieces, sometimes dangerously close to the penalty box.
