Player claims Spurs are ‘more attractive’ than Arsenal – Wilshere texts in response

Jack Wilshere has responded to Charlie Austin’s claim that Tottenham are a more attractive club to play for than Arsenal by sending an unhappy text to talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein.

Mikel Arteta’s side missed the chance to close the gap on the Premier League top four on Monday night after losing to Everton via a stoppage-time winner from Demarai Gray.

Arsenal are currently sitting in seventh and have now slipped two points behind Spurs, who also have a game in hand over the sides around them.

The Gunners’ unconvincing form has led QPR striker Austin to question whether many top players would want to ply their trade there going forward, adding that Spurs would now be a more attractive prospect.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Spurs are definitely more attractive than Arsenal, wouldn’t you say?

“I just think, with what they have got and the squad they have got, if you were a manager thinking about what you need to do to get either Arsenal or Tottenham higher up the league, I’m going for Tottenham.”

However, the claim did not sit well with former Arsenal midfielder Wilshere, who was said to be ‘not happy’ with Austin’s take after texting host Goldstein.

Goldstein revealed: “Jack Wilshere listening in is not happy with you saying Spurs are more attractive. I can’t read out what he has just said, but he is not happy.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs and Arsenal aren’t exactly fantastic places to be playing currently, but the former have a superior manager in Antonio Conte and a squad that is slowly getting there.

Both sides have their individual issues but it isn’t exactly an ‘out there’ claim to say Spurs are more attractive right now.
