Big name player hints Conte paid with his job for speaking his mind at Spurs

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has given his two cents on Antonio Conte’s departure from Tottenham, insisting that the Italian suffered for speaking his mind publicly.

It was already evident a couple of weeks ago that Conte’s marriage with Tottenham was not going to last beyond the end of the season but when the Spurs boss unleashed a tirade against his own players following the 3-3 draw with Southampton, he gave the club little choice but to pull the plug on the project immediately.

Conte accused all the players of being selfish rather than playing for the team and also suggested that the club are used to failure for the last two decades irrespective of the manager they have had in charge (Football.London).

It did not come as a surprise when Spurs announced on Sunday that they had parted ways with their head coach.

Here is what Ibrahimovic told Sky Sports Football Daily when asked about Conte’s departure from Tottenham:

As with everything else, Zlatan somehow managed to make that about himself, which is to be expected from the Swede.

It is clear that Conte knew the consequences of saying what he did in his last press conference and I believe that the Italian wanted to be sacked and put out of his misery.
