Player Ratings: Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham

A draw was just about a fair result at Stamford Bridge to see Spurs continue their hopes of finishing in the top 4. A win was ideally needed; but a resilient comeback against an in-form and creative Chelsea team will be a confidence boost going into the last 2 games of the season.

Hugo Lloris – 7

Played well, making a few good saves, although he should have done a bit more to stop Ramires’ goal.

Kyle Walker – 7

Had an accomplished game defensively, generally nullifying the threat of Hazard and covering all areas of defence with his pace when necessary.

Michael Dawson – 7

A towering game from the English leader who epitomised what he is all about with a block from a fierce Mata shot in the first half.

Jan Vertonghen – 8

Very solid throughout making 6 tackles, including a few crucial ones to thwart Chelsea counter-attacks.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto – 7

Criticised recently but played well today, generally quite solid in the full-back area and linking up well with Adebayor for the 2nd goal.

Scott Parker – 7

Worked extremely hard defensively and even made a few probing runs forward (with and without the ball) to cause Chelsea some problems of their own.

Tom Huddlestone – 6

Struggled slightly defensively but recycled the ball well. Always waiting for that killer pass from him which unfortunately never came last night.

Lewis Holtby – 6

A determined and dogged display but unfortunately didn’t have that much of an effect on the game.

Aaron Lennon – 5

Ineffectual: not given the service and when he did have the ball, didn’t do too much with it.

Gareth Bale – 6

Didn’t contribute to the game in the way we hoped, fortunately the Togolese man below him did!

Emmanuel Adebayor – 9

A super game from the tall striker, holding the ball up well, assisting Sigurdsson’s goal and scoring a super solo strike in the first half.

Substitutes:

Clint Dempsey – 6

Tried to get involved and had a few shots, played quite well but for no reward.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – 7

A breath of fresh air when he came on, scoring a well-placed strike and linking up with Adebayor and co. well.

Overall, not a disaster, but not great. The manner of the draw pleases me, but will it be enough? We now have to go to Stoke and win.
