PLAYER RATINGS: Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

What an awful week it has been, firstly we sealed our fate in the Champions League without any sign of a fight and now we’ve lost our first Premier League game of the season – to Chelsea, it just had to be.

For 40 minutes we looked somewhat back to the old Tottenham, high pressing and good organisation. Then in typical Spurs fashion we concede just before half time and for the second half we were second best.

We’re now seven points off the top of the Premier League and a big improvement is needed if we’re somehow to get back into the Champions League. Final thought, N’Koudou must start against Swansea on Saturday.

Here are our player ratings.

Hugo Lloris – 6

Kyle Walker – 7

Jan Vertonghen – 6

Eric Dier – 6

Kevin Wimmer – 5

Victor Wanyama – 7

Mousa Dembele – 5

Heung-min Son – 5

Dele Alli – 5

Christian Eriksen – 6

Harry Kane – 6

Subs

Harry Winks – 6

George-Kevin N’Koudou – 6

Vincent Janssen – 5

  1. Thats the best 1st half performance ive seen in 35 years and possibly the worst 2nd half from any spurs team ! No joking .never mind little acorns grow again .ZICO WARRIOR

    • In 35 years? Best 1st half ever? And the worst 2nd half in Spurs' history? Really, Steve?!
I can think of many better 1st half performances, and even far more worse 2nd half performances
in the past 3 or 4 seasons alone. How many matches have you seen? A dozen?

  2. Invincibles?
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Know your limits!
    Humiliated in the Champions League
Out of the League Cup (the only trophy they had any chance of winning)
6th at best in the Prem
And a Wembley game v CSKA in front of an empty stadium coming up!

Small Club – Always were, always will be!

  3. We have shown we lack talent ability to be creative and win. The players were RUBBISH twice in one week. Ponchettino does not have a clue how to motivate and create as a result we will never reach the top. We r not going to win anything and struggle to qualify. The players have no character or respect or caring for the fans they. Are only interested in lining their pockets- JANSSEN is a FLOP LIKE SOLDADO AS ARE SOME OF THE RECENT BUYS!!!
We need to sell him in January and get quality players as for the rest of them they are crap without buying top players we will be in the same position,

Last season we threw away the league title , lost it atchelsea , collapsed at Newcastle after they were regulated and finished behind arsenal now out of CL , STRUGGLING TO SCORE may NOT QUALIFY FOR EUROPA LEAGUE AND NOW 5 th and 7 Ptsc behind leaders.
LEVY MUST ACT NOW AND BE RUTHLESS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE CLUB LONG TERM AND ITS SUPPORTERS. Ponchettino has been found wanting he and those team members MUST BE GOT RID OF – QUICKLY.

We need a good old fashion English coach who knows how to get things done and players winning!!!!

    • “We need a good old fashion English coach who knows how to get things done and players winning!!!!”

Really?! Who would that be? I am not sure I can suggest one.

    • What? For a start off name one English coach that has won anything in the last 20 years?

And this is the first time in 2 seasons and a bit that Poch has struggled and bow you are suggesting he should be sacked? You sir, are a clueless moron who clearly has Xenophobic blinkers on. Don't provide any more opinions, you just make yourself look stupid.

  4. It won't happen while Levey is holding the rains with transfers When it's left to the Team Manager to buy the players he wants to play for him and Tottenham Hotspur, And tell me what's the point in building a new Stadium if you have not got a good team to play in it to help pay for it.
All the years I Have followed Spurs this has got to be the worst team with no guts for GOALS

  6. Maybe now that we've lost in the PL, we might start fighting to win games
instead of trying to remain unbeaten.
Since the City result, we've only shown glimpses of form (eg. games against
the Arse, Wham and Chelski) and that's not gonna get us top four at the end
of the season. We'll all be bored to death by then.
Mind you, with the way we treated the CL it makes no difference
if we finish 4th or 8th (cos Europa qualification won't inspire us either).
I remember the days when Spurs really were about Glory!
We need to win a few cups ..and I mean the FA Cup or Europa.
Silverware ..not a constant striving for top four at the expense of everything else!
But the way we played in the PL last season made me proud, and gave hope
we could win our 3rd top flight ever this season.
Right until that dismal last few games we scored more and conceded less
than anyone else. But is it really just 4 goals from open play in the last 8 or 9 matches??
I laugh (cry?) that we've supposedly 'strengthened' the squad in order to give us
an even better chance of winning the PL this year. Diminished the squad more like!
Sissoko should be nowhere near our club ..a divisive 'mercenary' who's
cheesing off far more talented and hard working 'team mates' who are getting paid much
less! Anyway, could it be just a 'correction' in the market, and we'll be right there at the end ..or are
Eriksen, Alli, Kane, Dembele etc. merely shadows of what they were last year, and need to
rediscover what made them so good?
Right now I'd take back Townsend, Chadli and Mason as cover ..for the only
positive buy in the summer was Wanyama (and even he should be cover for Dier in holding
midfield, not the other way around). A stronger squad than last year? Give me a break!
And Poch? Get working on that Plan B ..cos our supposed narrow pressing A game based on
advance fitness levels and breaking forward with pace is all over the place this term, and not
    producing any goals.

  7. Chelsea getting rid of jose was the key. Conte is definitely the best thing that has happened at Stanford bridge in a while. This team will definitely humiliate city next week God willing.
