Player ratings from the win over Real Madrid in the Audi Cup

Tottenham Hotspur took part in the Audi Cup semi-final today, playing against Real Madrid in the semi-final of the pre-season tournament.

The Lilywhites came through as 1-0 winners and will now play the winner of Bayern Munich and Fenerbahce in the final in Germany tomorrow.

Let’s take a look at how the players got on in the Allianz Arena:

Paulo Gazzaniga – 7 – Came out well to block an early chance and stood firm to every save he had to make. An improvement from his performances in Asia.

Juan Foyth – 6.5 – Defensively he looked very strong at right-back, as you would expect. However, he rarely got forward in attack and seemed a little bit lost past the halfway line.

Toby Alderweireld – 8 – Solid as always. Threw himself in front of several shots and defended expertly.

Jan Vertonghen – 7.5 – Does what Toby does but using his left foot.

Danny Rose – 6.5 – Great to see Rose back out there and had a decent run out considering he hasn’t played much football.

Harry Winks – 6.5 – Kept the ball nicely and always seems to keep things moving. However, we haven’t seen anything close to his best so far this pre-season.

Tanguy Ndombele – 6.5 – Another relatively quiet one from the Frenchman, but he certainly isn’t doing anything wrong. Probably a case of bedding into the new style of play.

Christian Eriksen – 6 – Looked decent in attack but there was little end product. Again, he has had little football so it’s a case of building up fitness and sharpess.

Erik Lamela – 8.5 – I thought the Argentine looked great out there. Lots of effort, skill on the ball, and created numerous chances for Spurs.

Heung Min Son – 7.5 – A good chunk of minutes under his belt and the Korean looked sharp again. Went close with one edge of the box shot.

Harry Kane – 8.5 – Could have had a few out there today, but he took his goal expertly. Looks extremely fit and ready for the new season.

SUBS:

Hugo Lloris – 6.5 – Didn’t have too much to do but he didn’t put a foot wrong really. Could have done a little better on the offside goal.

Kyle Walker-Peters – 6 – Looked good going forward but a little defensively naive today.

Davinson Sanchez – 7 – Defended really well and looked very mature in that young second half back line. Good signs for the Colombian.

Japhet Tanganga – 8.5 – Yet again a star performer. Threw himself in front of shot after shot and stopped Hazard from scoring a sure goal.

Anthony Georgiou – 7 – Looked better all around today, but I see his role as a third-choice at best this season.

Oliver Skipp – 6.5 – Came on and did a job defensively. Good signs for the season ahead after a solid pre-season.

Moussa Sissoko – 7 – Far better defensively and moving forward today after that strange affair against United.

Dele Alli – 7.5 – On the ball, a tad sloppy again. However, his off the ball runs were on point and he deserved a goal or two.

Lucas Moura – 7 – His usual live wire self, just without a goal. Put in a delightful cross to Dele Alli.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou – 5 – Seems like Spurs are trying to put him in the shop window and I for one would not buy after that.

Troy Parrott – 7.5 – Looked sharp again and dug out a brilliant shot to hit the post late on. How he hasn’t scored in pre-season, I will never know.
