Player ratings from Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Juventus

Tottenham Hotspur showed no signs of pre-season fatigue today in Singapore, as they beat Italian giants Juventus 3-2 in their first friendly of the tour.

Spurs scored through Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura, and Harry Kane, with Pochettino handing a debut to Ndombele from the bench and opportunities to a host of youngsters.

Let’s take a look at how the squad did:

Gazzaniga – 8

The Argentine looked steady in goal, made a few smart saves, and came off his line to sweep up when needed. A very accomplished second to Hugo Lloris and surely his eventual successor.

Walker-Peters – 8

A fantastic run out for the young man up against one of the world’s best in Ronaldo. Walker-Peters kept the ex-Madrid man pretty quiet, while also getting up and providing a potent outlet down the right-wing. Hope to see him a lot next season.

Alderweireld – 7

Steady as usual and calm on the ball. Picked out some lovely passes over the top to the likes of Heung Min Son too. Can’t help but notice he also wore the captain’s armband.

Tanganga – 8

I was extremely impressed with this young lad, especially considering he had to mark Ronaldo on more than one occasion. Could he be one for the future?

Georgiou – 5

At left-back, it’s a no from me. Too sloppy defensively and didn’t do much when he went forward either. Seemed afraid to cross with his left foot.

Winks – 6

Kept things ticking over, but didn’t have his usual influence on the game. Only his second start since returning from injury though.

Skipp – 9

Immense performance for almost the full match. Skipp played a deep, defensive role to start with, breaking up play and passing it off. He then moved into the Winks position and dictated the game in the second half. A great display!

Alli – 5

Couldn’t get too much going today and his touch seemed rather sloppy. Hopefully it’s a case of getting his form and match sharpness back.

Lamela – 7

Grabbed his goal and played pretty well in the first half, particularly driving the team forward on the break. Should be an important player this season if he can stay injury-free.

Parrott – 8

A fantastic first start for the young Irishman. Seems to have had a growth spurt and filled out over the summer. Held it up well, brought others into play, and got in behind on several occasions, including the assist for Lamela’s goal.

Son – 7

Caused a lot of problems, as usual, but failed to find the end product. Hit the post and saw a number of chances go just wide.

SUBS:

Foyth – 6

Some nice defending from the young Argentine, but you can’t help but think that centre-back isn’t where he will end up this season.

Vertonghen – 6

Some steady defending, but didn’t strike the same partnership with Foyth that Alderweireld had with Tanganga.

Kane – 8

An extra mark for that goal! Kane struggled to get into the game too much, but looked good on the ball and who can complain when you chip an ex-Arsenal man from the halfway line?

Sissoko – 6

A good run out for the Frenchman, but he wasn’t his usual line-breaking self in the second half.

Moura – 8

Very busy and a pain in the bum for the Juventus defence. Grabbed his goal and could have had a couple more on another day. A great player to have in the squad.

Ndombele – 6

A nice assist to Moura with his first touches, but a quiet game apart from that. Much more to come you would think.

Roles – 7

Looked really good on the ball when driving forward, could be one that Poch integrates into the first team this season.

Marsh – 5

Filled in at right-back but looked uncomfortable.

White – 5

Covered left-back but had little time to make much of an impact.
