PLAYER RATINGS: Manchester United 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris – You have to feel sorry for the Frenchman as his teammates let him down all game long. He could have done nothing for all three of the United’s goals. He managed to get a hand on Rooney’s goal but it was not enough.

Eric Dier – The young centre-back showed his inexperience today with major errors. He was too naive at times and Fellaini got the better of him at every opportunity. Rooney also forced Dier’s hand as he never had control of the game at the back. He was absolutely horrific defensively for Rooney’s goal and he gifted one to the opposition.

Danny Rose – The ball did not go to his side most of the game and that made him look better than he was. He was too aggressive and eager but that did not lead to anything good for his side. He pressed higher than his midfielders at times and left a lot of space at the back. He did push forwards more in the second half but couldn’t affect the game positively.

Jan Vertonghen – The Belgian was the better of the two centre-backs but he was not decent by any stretch of the imagination. He was more composed on the ball but that was the only positive thing about him today.

Kyle Walker – One of the worst players on the pitch as he got run over by the United players on the left hand side. He was over-powered by Fellaini, outpaced by Young and out smarted by Blind. A terrible afternoon for the right-back as he couldn’t even get over the half way line to help his attack at times.

Nabil Bentaleb – The second worst player for Spurs today as he couldn’t make the simplest of passes in midfield. He constantly missed his player and he was never in control. He looked nervous every time his team needed him.

Christian Eriksen – The Dane suffered from the terrible performances his midfielders produced today as he couldn’t get the ball for most of the first half. He had touches on the ball in the second half but he was never effective.

Ryan Mason – A nightmare game for the young midfielder as he was out powered and out played by Fellaini and had to switch sides in the second half. He tried so hard to get on the ball but he was intelligently pressed and closed down by the United players.

Nacer Chadli – Without a doubt, he was the worst player on the pitch for Spurs today. He did not do anything right today. He constantly missed his man; he couldn’t make a pass or win a header. It was a shock that he stayed on the pitch for as long as he did. He should not be a starter for an ambitious Spurs side; he can be a bench player at best.

Andros Townsend – A forgettable game for the winger as he was taken off after 30 minutes. He was rightly subbed off as he never used his pace against or caught the runs of Daley Blind, a considerably slower player.

Harry Kane – He was so isolated today that it would be unfair to him to rate him too poorly. Even though he slipped or misplaced his passes at times, he was never involved enough in the game to play poorly.

Subs

Mousa Dembele – He was brought on for Townsend after just 30 minutes but he did not make much of an impact. He showed his dribbling ability and strength in the midfield but he made some passing errors as well.

Erik Lamela– He worked hard to win the ball back and showed energy but he couldn’t do anything to impact the score sheet.

Emmanuel Adebayor – He came on late for Chadli but he couldn’t trouble the United back four.
