PLAYER RATINGS: Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Aston Villa

Hugo Lloris – A decent game again for the Frenchman but he had some unusually nervy moments. His short passing was disappointing and he almost let in the equalizer from Gestede when he misjudged a cross.

Kyle Walker – The right back started well and he kept the Villa attackers out for most of the match but the last 15 minutes were horrendous. He was never composed on the ball and looked really nervy. But that does not take anything away from his first 75 minute performance.

Danny Rose – He was full of energy and running at the left today and that was really important with Eriksen playing on the left wing. He filled the areas that the Dane left for him and he did not forget his defensive duties. It was a shame that he was subbed off with an injury late on.

Toby Alderweireld – A great game again for the Belgian as he was great at covering for his centre back partner. His long balls started a lot of attacks and that adds another dimension for this Spurs team.

Jan Vertonghen – The centre back was solid and confident at the back and on the ball once again. He couldn’t help his team keep a clean sheet though as Ayew’s shot was deflected off him and went in. It was unlucky for him and his team.

Eric Dier – Another accomplished performance from the young Englishman as he protected his back four superbly all game long. His misunderstanding with Mason caused the goal but that was the only low point in an otherwise great game.

Christian Eriksen – He had his moments in the game which flattered him but like his teammates, he was content with just keeping the ball and passing it around safely. He also wasted couple of chances from free kicks.

Dele Alli – A really professional performance from the youngster as he had some great moments, his goal being the best of them, but he was also calm and conservative. He looked a bit tired in the second half and looks like he might need some rest.

Erik Lamela – A slow start to the game from the Argentine as he could not find the spaces he wants but his passing was really impressive as he found his teammates with ease in tough situations. He made his mark in the last 15 minutes though as he was the calming presence in the nervy moments for Spurs. His assist for Kane at the end was world class and he deserved it fully.

Moussa Dembele – The Belgian was superb in the first half as he scored the early goal and bullied the Villa midfielders with his strength and dribbling ability. His passing could have been better but he was definitely one of the players of the game for Spurs.

Harry Kane – He worked really hard to find an opening but his shots did not find the target until the end of the game. However, he did not stop running and working for his team and he got his reward with a brilliantly taken goal.

Subs

Ryan Mason – He returned from his injury with a disappointing game as he could not make the impact he wanted. His mistake created the goal for Villa but he composed himself after the goal to make sure Spurs left the field with all 3 points.

Ben Davies – He came on for the injured Rose and saw the game out for his team. He shored up the defence and played a good ball to start the attack that ended with Kane’s goal.

Joshua Onomah – A decent Premier League debut for the youngster as he looked fearless and confident in the short time he was on the pitch.
