Jermain Defoe - Header

Gomes (8) – A fine save after an hour. Continues to exude a sort of eccentric confidence.

Hutton (7) – Made good of use of the room in front of him on the right.

Bale (8) – But not as good as Bale did on the left. Nice shot in the first half and two lovely cut backs for goals two and three.

Dawson (8) – Never missed anything at the back and even opened up play with some nice distribution.

Bassong (7) – Another confident display. Cameroon’s loss…

Modric (7) – Started on the right but drifted all over the shop. Some intelligent waspish play as ever but needs more match practice.

Palacios (7) – Seems to have recaptured his form over Christmas.

Huddlestone (8) – Played with great confidence and skill, pulled the strings in midfield.

Kranjcar (9) – Things move up a gear when he gets the ball. Great quick feet plus directness and vision.

Keane (6) – Well taken penalty and lots of good runs into space but again his loss of pace was the most notable feature of his game.

Defoe (7) – Took goal well and lots of good running as normal. Taken off hurt at the end but hopefully nothing serious.
