Player Ratings V Werder Bremen

Peter Crouch

Carlo Cudicini – Can’t be blamed for either of the goals, but was a little shaky with his distribution at times. Wasn’t required to make many other saves. 6

Vedran Corluka – Targetted by Marko Marin for his lack of pace, but usually his positioning gets him out of that. Not tonight, as he was poor and all the Werder threat came from his side of the defence. 5

Younes Kaboul – Is this the same walking accident we sold to Portsmouth two years ago? Very composed performance from Kaboul, read the play well and put in some important tackles. 8

Ledley King – Never seemed to get to grips with the wet pitch and provided a couple of unconvincing clearances. 6

Benoit Assou-Ekotto – Generally did OK, linking well with Bale, but once again a lack of concentration/common sense cost us a goal and gave Bremen a route back into the match. 6

Aaron Lennon – Provided absolutely no threat, which has been all too common this season. Can’t figure out what’s wrong with him this season. 4

Tom Huddlestone – Did fine, though didn’t open up the Bremen defence as we know he can. Booked. 6

Jermaine Jenas – Surprisingly good. Gets a bad rap from the Spurs fans, but was industrious and controlled. Made a great pass in the move to Crouch’s goal. 7

Gareth Bale – Gave the right-back kittens all night. Our most constant attacking threat once again. 8

Rafael Van Der Vaart – What a player he will be when fully fit. It’s a shame we didn’t get more than 47 minutes out of him tonight, because he was in fantastic form, with an assist for Crouch’s goal to boot. 8

Peter Crouch – Scored, helped force an own goal and was a threat at first, but badly faded in the second half as he seemed to be targetted by the referee. 7

Subs

Robbie Keane – Ran about a lot and created a nuisance of himself, but didn’t creat much as Spurs found themselves retreating more defensively. 6

Wilson Palacios – Created a great chance for Crouch with a through ball and was otherwise solid for the final 15 minutes. 6
