Player Ratings V Werder Bremen

0

Peter Crouch

Carlo Cudicini – Can’t be blamed for either of the goals, but was a little shaky with his distribution at times. Wasn’t required to make many other saves. 6

Vedran Corluka – Targetted by Marko Marin for his lack of pace, but usually his positioning gets him out of that. Not tonight, as he was poor and all the Werder threat came from his side of the defence. 5

Younes Kaboul – Is this the same walking accident we sold to Portsmouth two years ago? Very composed performance from Kaboul, read the play well and put in some important tackles. 8

Ledley King – Never seemed to get to grips with the wet pitch and provided a couple of unconvincing clearances. 6

Benoit Assou-Ekotto – Generally did OK, linking well with Bale, but once again a lack of concentration/common sense cost us a goal and gave Bremen a route back into the match. 6

Aaron Lennon – Provided absolutely no threat, which has been all too common this season. Can’t figure out what’s wrong with him this season. 4

Tom Huddlestone – Did fine, though didn’t open up the Bremen defence as we know he can. Booked. 6

Jermaine Jenas – Surprisingly good. Gets a bad rap from the Spurs fans, but was industrious and controlled. Made a great pass in the move to Crouch’s goal. 7

Gareth Bale – Gave the right-back kittens all night. Our most constant attacking threat once again. 8

Rafael Van Der Vaart – What a player he will be when fully fit. It’s a shame we didn’t get more than 47 minutes out of him tonight, because he was in fantastic form, with an assist for Crouch’s goal to boot. 8

Peter Crouch – Scored, helped force an own goal and was a threat at first, but badly faded in the second half as he seemed to be targetted by the referee. 7

Subs

Robbie Keane – Ran about a lot and created a nuisance of himself, but didn’t creat much as Spurs found themselves retreating more defensively. 6

Wilson Palacios – Created a great chance for Crouch with a through ball and was otherwise solid for the final 15 minutes. 6

  1. BAE made a couple of mistakes which cost us. We should however stick with him as he is generally good. We look good for the 2nd round and are in the same points as Man C so no reasons for panic!

  2. I have absolutely no idea how you have managed to rate Palacios and Keane the same. Palacios did more in ten minutes than Keane did in 43 (plus stoppage). Keane was absolutely awful; ran down dead-alleys; failed to pass when he should; missed his pass when he tried; looked too slow for the game as a whole. He’s absolutely lost it.

I thought Kaboul was outstanding tonight. Totally agree with your comments on him.

We really missed Modric once we were winning. there’s no way he would have allowed the panic to set in as it did for just a brief twenty minute period either side of half time (about 2 minutes in the first half, the rest the second).

But we are unbeaten in the Champions League. Never lost a game. We’d have taken the result before the game, just feels a bit rubbish because we were SO good in the first half.

  3. to be honest, I thought Cudicini could have done better with the first goal. the cross had no pace and the striker was in the 6-yard box when he headed it in…he should have come outfor it.

  4. watching Lennon tonight, I was thinking about the mutual scorn in the relations between Redknapp and Gio dos Santos. There is no other explanation for what happened during the match. I am not a Spurs fan, but it was so obvious that Lennon is out of form and out of passion, yet i knew that ‘Arry would do everything possible to keep Dos Santos on the bench. There is something so predicatbale about Redknapp, at any given point you can predict who will play (no more than 13 to 15 of “his” boys in a season) and what tactics will always be used, who will be a sub, and how everyone is going to be deployed.

  5. Harry his getting baffled why teams get hammered look second best go down the Tunnel and come out full of running and ten yards faster well i no why but trying to convince Fans is even harder than telling the drug testers. They no what's going on but if they catch any player they tell them its for a bad chest and also threaten to tell the papers all of there fellow players are taking this energy drug. The sudden deaths Heart Attacks and stokes tell me its still rife Five mins with Harry and i will tell him how the team we replaced stayed in the champs league and where called the Duracell Bunnies and Comeback kings . Then we can play for the full 90 instead of struggling agaist Teams topping up there tanks at half time like Wigan West Brom and Werder Bemen .They all played after going down the Tunnel instead of having extra refs on th pitch they should have observers in the dressing room to make sure the medical bag is not opened like i discovered otherwise more deaths and heart attacks will keep happening Ephedrine Kills its no longer used in cold remedys so why are the Fa The Russion FA and the Itallian fa not banning Mutu and the two Dynamow Moscow players 2 yeras and for life on Mutu third drug test failure. The answer its to big to stop so Harry get some yellow and Grey capsules and we can beat these Teams and run for the full game but expect sudden deaths if you overdo it.. I am proud of my Team because if they where taking this deadly drug we would not run out of steam in the second Half . Man CITY Wigan West Brom Werder Bremen have all played better after coming out of the dressing room. Tthe culprits i found out where dishing this energy out was the physiotherapy the same animal who used blood capsules in rugby union cheating.

  6. The referee didn’t give Spurs a decision for the entire first half. There were tackles and fouls galore going unnoticed. Corluka and Lennon were shite tonight and BAE needs a very long talking to as he is a decent defender but looses his concentration much too often and likes to show-boat. But I cannot wait to see Modric and VDV get a run in the team together what a game VDV had while he was on the pitch.

  7. ARSENAL FUTURE MANAGER…
Gareth Bale, literally tore them up, like he did to you last season….
    WHAT A PLAYER….
remember a little argie last season aswell?????

  8. Robbie keane is done! When vdv went off palacios should have come on. Lennon was poor. Gio should have got at least 15mins. Corluka is too slow yet we’re happy loaning out Kyle walker and Kyle naughton. Ekotto could easily get us into a lot of trouble in matches. Jenas was ok, still not convinced that a 27yo has “potential”. Big crouch took his goal perfectly, but got bullied out the much late on by defenders and the ref. Bale was great but seemed to run out of steam. Big hudd was solid! King had the wrong boots on slipping too much. Kaboul – solid and assertive. Vdv was prob our best player.

  9. BAE linked extremely well with Bale in the first half, but our weak link all night long was Charlie. Full backs are all about pace nowadays – he has none – so can't beat his man and is dangerous when he lunges in. Can't cross the ball, doesn't like heading the ball. Worrying.
