Player Spurs signed this year is already keen to return to his old club – Journalist reports

According to journalist Marco Barzaghi in a recent video on his YouTube channel, Tottenham Hotspur’s Ivan Perisic may look to return to Inter Milan at the end of the season, just a year after leaving the Italian side on a free transfer.

Perisic joined Tottenham last summer when his contract with Inter came to an end, teaming up with former manager Antonio Conte in North London.

The signing of the highly-decorated Croatian was seen as something of a coup for Spurs at the time.

The veteran has had a fairly impressive campaign on the whole from an individual perspective, contributing nine assists across 35 appearances across all competitions for Spurs this term (Transfermarkt).

However, the increasingly precarious situation regarding Conte’s own position at the club has hit an all-time low, according to Italian outlet Corriere della Sera.

The publication suggests the 53-year-old will leave Spurs at the end of the season when his contract expires.

If that is the case, there’s every chance Perisic will look to move on, too. That’s certainly the opinion of Barzaghi, who believes Perisic’s experience of the Premier League has been far from what he envisaged.

On his YouTube (via FC Inter 1908), Barzaghi said: “Even in the first leg [against AC Milan] we said it would be difficult to see him again like in the last season and that from then on there would always be a downside.

“[Perisic] too would like to return, above all because he understood that Conte is leaving at the end of the season, and things could get even more complicated for him.

“He, like Hakimi, as they confide to his former teammates, would like to return. I don’t think Perisic expected such a modest adventure in the Premier League.”

We have seen flashes of Perisic’s brilliance this season, but as with most of the team, he’s never quite got going.

It would be a real shame for him to move on so soon, as I was keen to see him become a mentor for Destiny Udogie next year.
