Two stars who left Spurs this summer send messages ahead of Arsenal derby

Ahead of the North London derby this afternoon, Toby Alderweireld has taken to social media to remind Spurs fans of the winner he scored in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Arsenal last weason.

Alderweireld is a veteran of North London derbies, having helped the Lilywhites get the better of their local rivals on a number of occasions during his six years at the club.

The Belgian international’s time at Spurs came to an end over the summer after he completed a move to Qatari club Al-Duhail.

However, the 32-year-old will certainly keep a keen eye on how his former club get on this afternoon at the Emirates.

It appears he is not alone in that, as Erik Lamela also posted to Instagram to reveal that he would be watching the game. Albeit in a defeat, the Argentine made headlines by scoring a rabona goal in his last North London Derby before moving to Sevilla this summer.

A win for Arsenal this afternoon will see them draw level on points with Spurs but Nuno Espirito Santo will be desperate for a result, with his side having fallen to two successive 3-0 defeats in their last two Premier League matches.

Alderweireld and Lamela took to social media to wish Tottenham luck ahead of the big game.

Toby certainly understood what the NLD meant to Spurs fans and the defender always wore his heart on his sleeve. I am sure that the likes of Kane, Dier and Hugo will certainly let the new Tottenham boys like Romero and Gil know how big of a game this is.
