Player who was rumoured to have had dreamed of Spurs move receives 12-month ban

Former rumoured Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Andre Onana has been slapped with a lengthy ban by UEFA.

The Ajax goalkeeper was handed a one-year suspension having failed an out of competition doping test (BBC).

Onana received the punishment after the test discovered the forbidden substance Furosemide in a urine sample in October 2020.

Ajax are planning to appeal the suspension and offered their explanation for the failed test, claiming the Cameroonian unknowingly took a pill, Lasimac which his wife had previously been prescribed to ease discomfort.

The 24-year-old was previously said to have had his heart set on a move to either Tottenham or Chelsea (Daily Mail), however, moves to either Premier League side failed to materialise after Spurs moved for Joe Hart and Chelsea raided Rennes to sign Edouard Mendy.

The Sun reported at the start of last month that Spurs were fearful that their number one, Hugo Lloris could reunite with former boss Mauricio Pochettino at PSG.
