Player’s agent claims Spurs see him as ‘fundamental piece for the Champions League’

Quoted by Globo Esporte, Junior Pedroso, the agent of Tottenham winger Lucas Moura has claimed that his client is seen as an important part of Antonio Conte’s squad.

Moura’s role in Conte’s starting XI dwindled after the January arrival of Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus.

However, the 29-year-old still managed to make 34 Premier League appearances for the Lilywhites last season, scoring twice and assisting six times (TransferMarkt).

The Brazilian has not been shy when discussing his future in recent months. Speaking to Andre Hernan (22/06/22 via SportWitness), Moura hinted at his intention to depart North London when his current deal with the club expires in the summer of 2023 or 2024.

Alasdair Gold hinted there was a chance Moura could leave the club this summer if the right offer arrived, but this has seemingly now been dispelled by his agent. Pedroso is adamant that the former PSG and Sao Paulo winger will be plying his trade in N17 next summer.

He said (Globo Esporte): “Tottenham don’t give up Lucas for the season, they see him as a fundamental piece for the Champions League.”

Although Lucas may not have the quality for where Spurs are aiming to be, he is a great rotation player and clearly a big personality in the dressing room.

Keeping him around for another season is definitely not an issue and if either Richarlison or Raphinha join the club, having his Brazilian presence to bed them in could be crucial.
