‘Playground footballer’ – Manchester United legend expresses admiration for Spurs star

Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he has been impressed with what he has seen from Tanguy Ndombele so far this season.

The Frenchman arrived with a bumper price tag from Lyon in the summer of 2019 but failed to hit the expected heights in his first season at the club.

The midfielder did not seem to get along with Jose Mourinho and it appeared that he might leave after just one season in North London.

However, Tottenham decided to hang on to Ndombele and their decision has been vindicated, with the 23-year-old looking a completely different player this campaign.

The France international has been one of Spurs’ best performers and has shown the kind of ability on the ball that made him such a sought after talent during his time in Ligue 1.

Ferdinand admitted that Ndombele is now living up to his price tag and expressed admiration for the way the Spurs star is able to seamlessly skip away from challenges.

The former Manchester United defender said on FIVE YouTube channel:”This season he’s (Ndombele) shown why such a big price tag was behind his name.

“His feet are beautiful, a playground footballer.

“The ball comes into him, one or two players marking him, he doesn’t care, a little shimmy, he gets out of trouble all the time.”

Ndombele is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining players to watch when he is on the ball. If the midfielder can build up his fitness and stamina and start lasting the full ninety minutes, we would have one hell of a player on our hands.
