‘Playing at the highest level possible’ – Harry Kane speaks on his future

When asked about his future, Harry Kane has simply stated that he wants to play at the highest level possible.

Despite the whole host of records that Kane has broken during his time at Tottenham and the various individual accolades he has won, the striker is yet to taste any silverware.

That was perhaps his main motivation for reportedly pushing hard to leave his boyhood club to join Manchester City during last summer’s transfer window (The Evening Standard).

After a poor start to the season, the England captain now looks to be back at his best under Antonio Conte.

The Athletic claimed last month that Kane is loving life under Conte and suggested that the striker could be offered a new contract if Tottenham continues progressing under their new head coach.

However, the 28-year-old refused to get into specifics regarding his future, insisting that he is fully focused on the current campaign.

When asked about his future, Kane told Sky Sports: “I just want to be playing at the highest level possible. My focus is fully on this season and trying to get as high up the league as possible.

“We’re still in the FA Cup and we’re trying to win a trophy. I’m not going to go into loads of detail about anything else going on. It’s just about working hard for the team and trying to improve.”

Kane’s body language has looked markedly different since Conte replaced Nuno at the helm.

The manner in which he sprinted over to the away section after the final whistle at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday, showed that the striker is now fully invested in the club’s project.

However, I do believe that the 28-year-old is unlikely to sign a new contract with Spurs unless we get back into the Champions League.
