‘Please come back’ – Some Spurs fans plead with former striker to return to club

Some Spurs fans have been pleading with Fernando Llorente on Twitter to come back to Tottenham in order to help the club cope with the current injury crisis.

The former Spurs striker, who turns 35 years of age today, played a crucial role in the club’s Champions League run last season and really came good when Harry Kane was injured.

The striker joined Napoli last summer after his contract with Spurs ran out at the end of the season, but the Lilywhites failed to replace the Spaniard.

The club again failed to sign a striker in the January transfer window, and with Son Heung-min now joining Harry Kane on the treatment table, that has put Tottenham in a really precarious position.

Some fans felt that it was the club’s failure to replace Llorente last summer than has ended up costing them this season. Others insisted that the former Spurs star would have been a perfect fit for Jose Mourinho’s tactics.

Llorente’s loss was felt even before Kane and Son got injured as we lacked a plan B in games where our approach wasn’t working. He was a great option to have on the bench and we made a massive blunder by failing to replace him in the summer. I believe Jose will definitely want to get in a similar type of target man in the summer.
