Poch answers whether Spurs are title challengers

Tottenham Hotspur have finished in the top three in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons under Pochettino.

However, unlike City or Chelsea, Spurs have been able to make that final leap in actually winning the competition.

Their best finish came behind Chelsea a couple of seasons ago when they could only muster second place.

With a matured Tottenham side, and many players reaching the peak of their respective careers, it is certainly time for Spurs to start picking up some trophies.

It cannot be forgotten, however, that Poch has only spent a net sum of £30m since taking over the club, which has made it tricky to compete financially with the big dogs.

Spurs undoubtedly have a team capable of winning the League, but with sides like City seemingly unable to drop a point, it may take a couple of big name signings to push the North Londoners over the line.

Pochettino had his say on whether his side can win the League.

Football London report he said: “We’re in a very good position in the table. If you consider last season in this moment I think we had six points less and we improve a lot from last season. We are closer than last season to the top.

“I cannot say we’re a contender for the title. I think Manchester City is in a different level and of course clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, the same, Manchester United and Arsenal. They make more investment than us and in a different level.

“I think they need to show or be the contenders – or they are the contenders, more than us. But we’re there. If we’re capable in the last few months of the season to be in a good position in the table we’re going to try.

“But football is belief, faith in your quality and then it’s approaching the game in the right attitude and the right way, and all is possible.”
