What Poch had to say after Bournemouth battering

Mauricio Pochettino hailed an important three points as his Tottenham side closed the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Spurs eased to a comfortable 4-0 win over Bournemouth to secure their 12th successive home victory in the Premier League and cut the deficit to four points behind Chelsea, who play at Manchester United tomorrow.

Mousa Dembele drilled in his first goal of the season to open the scoring before Son Heung-min squeezed in a second from a tight angle.

Harry Kane grabbed his 20th league goal of the season on his first start since injuring his ankle last month with substitute Vincent Janssen sealing the rout from close range with his first Premier League goal in open play.

Pochettino told Sky Sports: “It was another great performance. I am very pleased, very happy and 4-0 is a good result for us but the three points is most important to close the gap.

“Four points with Chelsea is important for us but I am very happy and so happy to describe my emotions with how I am feeling right now.

“I am so proud but all the credit goes to the players. The commitment, how we push them in training and make them believe. The club is so exciting, our fans are unbelievable so it is impossible to feel different.

“It’s all done now and we got the three points which is important for us and now we see what happens tomorrow. Of course it will be better if they (Chelsea) fade but now our job is done and now (we are) waiting. If they fail, we must be waiting there.”

Goalscorer Kane was delighted to return to the starting line-up as he made it 20 Premier League goals for the third season in a row.

He said: “It’s great. It’s good to be consistent as a striker. I want to do it year in, year out, and it’s good to get three years in a row but we still have a lot to play for this season so I try not think about it too much.

“We want to win games and we have a big game next week in the cup and (we have to) push until the end of the season.”
