Poch claims that Tottenham star still needs to prove himself

This summer, Tottenham became the first Premier League club ever not to make a single signing in the transfer window.

However, it was Tottenham’s newest recruit who stepped up against Fulham last weekend the break the deadlock.

Lucas Moura arrived in North London from PSG in January for a fee of £23m, but managed only 72 minutes in the league during his first season.

This was due to the fact that manager Pochettino wanted to bed the winger into the squad before handing out such responsibility.

Despite his impressive pre-season, and a man-of-the-match performance against Fulham, Pochettino still believes that Moura must prove himself.

Poch told the London Evening Standard: “He still needs to prove [himself]. He did well in pre-season but remember eight months ago when he arrived I told you, ‘Careful, calm, relax – if he helps in the first few months then perfect, if not then he needs to adapt to a different reality, different club, different everything’.”

It looks as if Moura will get the chance to do just that in a big game this evening as Tottenham take on Manchester United.

With Son away at the Asia games, and Lamela only just back from injury, surely Moura will get the nod to start in that right-wing position.
