Poch hints he will prioritise these competitions this year

Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in the unique position of fighting on four fronts in January.

Spurs are currently third in the Premier League, just six points off the lead, which will obviously be at the forefront of Pochettino’s mind.

However, they also have big ties against Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea in the Champions League and Carabao Cup semi-final respectively.

As if this wasn’t enough, Tottenham finally take on Tranmere tonight in the FA Cup, the fourth trophy they are fighting for this season.

So which competitions will Poch prioritise?

Spurs have gone over a decade without a trophy, and Pochettino himself has never won one as a manager, so a cup could be a good place to start.

However, the Argentine gaffer is adamant that a domestic cup will not take his side to the next level, hinting that he will be gunning for the Champions and Premier Leagues.

He did however concede that it would be nice to win an FA or Carabao Cup.

Poch said (Telegraph): “Of course we want to win a trophy, but that doesn’t mean it is going to put Tottenham on a different level.

“What puts you on a different level is when you win the Premier League and are capable to challenge every season for the Premier League, and if you play in the Champions League and really believe you are a real contender one day to win the Champions League. My ambition is to win the Champions League one day with Tottenham, or the Premier League.

“If we hadn’t finished how we did in the last three seasons, I don’t know if Daniel would have said, ‘OK, you’re 10th in the league’ and given me a new contract.”
