Poch reacts to Ronaldinho tipping Spurs to win the Champions League

After the elimination of Juventus and Manchester United on Tuesday at the hands of Ajax and Barcelona respectively, Spurs are now one of six teams to still be in with a shot of winning the Champions League.

While the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and Tottenham’s quarterfinal opponents Man City are considered more likely contenders for the title, Pochettino’s men have shown that they can compete with the best on their day.

They were all but out of this season’s competition after picking up just a point from their first three games. Since then, the team has shown tremendous spirit to do the impossible and qualify from the group, and then put Borussia Dortmund to the sword in the round of 16 stage.

Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho has backed Spurs to go all the way in the competition despite their lack of experience in it. Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino who played with the former Brazilian international at PSG said that his comments would serve as a boost to his players.

Speaking to Football.London about Ronaldinho’s comments, the Argentine said, “Wow. He knows a lot about football and I am going to respect him.He was a great team-mate when we played together in PSG, we spend amazing time together on the pitch, training ground, not outside.

“Why not? In football, all can happen, like in life, you must believe and have trust in yourself and your ability and quality. It is good that people like Ronaldinho believe you have the quality to win.

“It is good for our players to listen to that because if Ronaldinho says that it increases our belief. Maybe tomorrow we will be able to beat an amazing team like Manchester City.

“Football is about enjoying it, I learn a lot from him, laughing, smiling, dancing. Football is not a drama it is a sport, if you want to play well, and show your real capacity, you have to be happy and smile.

“I learn a lot from the Brazilian players but Ronaldinho spending nearly three years was amazing.”
