Poch reveals two injured stars return but only one can play against Ajax

Tottenham Hotspur have been hit with injuries of late, with Harry Kane and Harry Winks being huge misses for the club ahead of the Champions League.

Jan Vertonghen also suffered a head injury last time out in the competition, Mousa Sissoko has just recovered from a problem of his own, and Erik Lamela and Serge Aurier have been sidelined for a number of weeks (Physio Room).

However, there has been some positive injury news ahead of the biggest game in Tottenham’s season, as Pochettino announced two stars are once again injury free.

He revealed that Erik Lamela has overcome his injury problems, and will be able to train today, hopefully making him available to feature against Ajax tomorrow night.

The gaffer also added that, although he is not with the squad for the match, Serge Aurier is also now okay once more.

If Tottenham do make it through to the final, these injury returnees could make all the difference.

Pochettino said (Football London): “Lamela is okay, he will train today. Serge is ok, but he’s not here.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Although Lamela’s return may seem insignificant, it is anything but for Tottenham. For many weeks now, the club has had little to no option in terms of striking substitutes on the bench, with Llorente, Son, and Moura more often than not already on the pitch. Lamela gives Poch the chance to throw on a fresh pair on legs up front, to change the shape, and to replace anyone having a poor game. Options like these could prove to be the difference in the end.
