Poch gives update on Harry Kane’s fitness

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has put to bed rumours that lead striker Harry Kane is struggling with his fitness.

Kane and England were knocked out in the semi finals of the World Cup in Russia, but the star striker still managed to walk away with the competition’s golden boot.

Many fans leapt to social media to take jabs at the Tottenham man, claiming that it was the worst golden boot performance in history, and that the forward simply wasn’t fit.

Once you strip away the bitterness and needless jabs from rival fans, there was a point to be made against Harry Kane’s movement during the competition, and the opening league game versus Newcastle.

Does Harry Kane look like he’s moving like he usually does? Do you think he looks fit?

Pochettino has weighed into the debate, insisting that there are no fitness problems within the squad.

“For me, all are fit. We put in our mind that all are fit, you cannot tell some player ‘you’re not fit’. For me he [Kane] is match ready, all the players are fit to play and start the game, but they need time to be at their best.

“For me, he is in his best form whether he scores or doesn’t score. I don’t have any doubt that he’s in his best form.

“He worked a lot for the team and I’m sure that he’s going to score. But he can’t score three goals in every game.”
